Lumen was launched in 2020 in Dallas, TX. Lumen exists to serve the insurance marketplace by building unique, creative and technology driven insurance products that meet the evolving needs of the insurance buyer. Lumen is focused on disruption, paired with an uncompromising commitment to insurance fundamentals. Fueling this strategy is product innovation, significant investment in technology and a team composed of industry veterans.

Scott Whitaker
Scott currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Lumen. His prior experience includes transactional wholesale brokerage as well as wholesale program operations, serving as President of his two prior firms. He has extensive experience in managing carrier relationships, structuring reinsurance facilities to support programs, and development of successful distribution strategies. He holds a BBA in Finance and an MBA from Baylor University and currently resides in Dallas, TX.

Matt Austin
Matt serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Lumen. He brings 15 years of commercial insurance experience in financial and operations management – including brokerage management, underwriting, claims, and reinsurance. Matt holds a BBA from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He currently resides in Dallas, TX.

Matthew Miller
Matthew serves as the President of Lumen Select. His prior experience includes product management, systems integration, multi-state product expansions, and daily operations, serving as President of his prior firm. He has extensive experience in developing successful underwriting and pricing strategies, agency distribution, and reinsurance placements. He holds a BS in Finance & Economics from Arkansas Tech University and an MBA from Florida International University. He currently resides in Paragould, AR.
The WHY for Matthew:
“There has not been a bigger opportunity to enter the personal lines market in my previous 15 years in the space. By joining Lumen and their existing approach of marrying advanced technology with human intelligence is an exciting new approach that has not been successfully scaled in the personal lines segment. The opportunity to leverage commercial and personal lines expertise within one office presents a long-term, sustainable business model.”
Riley Talbut
Riley has more than seven years of experience in the insurance industry and currently serves as the marketing director for Lumen Select. He began his career as a property claims adjuster which serves as a basis for extensive policy and coverage knowledge. He then transitioned into the marketing sector, building relationships with agents throughout the Midwest leveraging his interpersonal communication skills and policy knowledge to forge relationships that is pertinent for Lumen Selects entry into the market. Riley holds a BS in management from Arkansas State University and currently resides in Jackson, MO. He enjoys coaching swimming and playing golf in his spare time.
